Introduction
Lamblion Holiday Apartment is a tourism complex in the heart of Antigua. We are respectful of the environment, and acknowledge the need not only to reduce our negative impact, but to increase our positive impact on the surrounding environment and communities and, wherever possible to augment sustainable practices that can beneficially contribute to Antigua.
We are a family-owned business that strives to provide our guests with a place for renewal and restoration while allowing them to experience the authentic Antigua.
Environmental
At the Lamblion Holiday Apartment, we take our responsibility for our local environment seriously and we are committed to operating in a safe, clean, and environmentally-friendly way. To this end, we have formed a new Environmental Committee, ‘The Green Team’—a working party of passionate individuals whose mission is to step up and find innovative and creative ways to make our accommodation a better place in our environment.
The goals of The Green Team are to create a sustainable environment while adding value for our stakeholders. All the members are volunteers and meet monthly to review the work in progress and to discuss new initiatives.
To help safeguard our natural beauty, the team is committed to:
- Wise use of resources while practicing the three R’s.
- Eco-friendly practices for gardening and lawn.
- Alternative use of energy.
- Water-saving devices and measures.
- A continuous improvement model in our sustainability management practices.
- Assessing the impact on the main indicators of the environment and reporting to Green Globe.
Some Crucial achievements so far:
- Installed of Grid-Tied Photovoltaic (PV) Systems which meets most of the property’s day-time energy needs.
- Installed Solar Water Heaters for all water heating purposes.
- Acquired low-energy and long-life LED light bulbs.
- Employed programmed energy systems (Photocells and Motion Sensors) for automatically turning outdoor lights on or off as needed.
- Procured ENERGY STAR (Label) Washing Machines and other appliances.
- Installed Water Management Systems (rainwater harvesting, storage, and wastewater recycling) that meet most of our water needs.
- The utilization of a compost tumbler system: the output to be further utilized in the existing organic garden and landscaping.
- Displayed signage to conserve energy and water, and to report faults.
The Green Team ensures:
- Reduction in hazardous chemical use.
- Increased recycling.
- Institution of environmentally preferable purchasing strategies, including the preference for reusable materials.
- Promotion of energy conservation.
- Promotion of water conservation.
Socio-Cultural
The Lamblion Holiday Apartment has implemented socially responsible practices into its tourism accommodation business as an indispensable priority.
We are responsible for our actions related to people (community), the planet (environment), and ethics. Our CSR takes into account environmental concerns, respect for the local community, technology use, energy and water consumption, and the reduction of waste.
Our goal is to run our business in a way that has as minimal impact on the environment and surrounding communities as possible. Shifting our focus to sustainability as making greener choices does not only benefit the business but also the environment and surrounding communities.
Our corporate Social Responsibility and our commitments toward the environment include:
- Complying with the Government’s environmental legislation and approved codes of practice.
- Continuously seeking to improve our environmental and social performance.
- Reducing chemical consumption and waste.
- Reducing the use of energy, water, and non-recyclable materials.
- Raising awareness, encouraging participation, and training employees in sustainable business practices.
- Communicating with suppliers and contractors for similar environmental standards and ideas.
- Assisting customers to use products, services, and travel in an environmentally sensitive way.
- Minimizing risks associated with social and environmental issues.
- Limiting the noise within and around the site.
- Implementing new practices to increase wildlife population.
The Lamblion Holiday Apartment is committed to embracing the community and protecting the environment through outreach projects and environmental initiatives. We have commenced outreach programs, listed below:
- We support the Sea View Farm Primary School, and its efforts to transfer sustainability to young minds. Participating on Earth Day, to promote learning of the negative impact the students’ actions may have on the environment and to develop and reinforce actions to care for the environment.
- The Lamblion Holiday Apartment is a member of the Antigua and Barbuda Horticultural Society, an organization devoted to the study and culture of cultivated plants. The Society aims to assist in providing food security and enriching lives through plants and make Antigua and Barbuda a greener and more beautiful place.
Other Socio-cultural Issues:
The Lamblion Holiday Apartment will not participate in any activity concerning Human Trafficking. Child labour is not tolerated, any child not yet 16 years old will not be employed nor encouraged to seek employment elsewhere. We will also not have any involvement in bribery, corruption, and child exploitation.

Quality CONCEPT
The Lamblion Holiday Apartment is committed to the Antigua and Barbuda Ministry of Tourism sustainable accommodation guidelines. We are registered according to Antigua and Barbuda laws and in full compliance with all relevant international or local legislation and regulations, including health, safety, labour, and environmental aspects.
As a short-term accommodation business, we consider every guest who visits us an extremely important person. We are obliged to provide each guest with a level of service that is consistently excellent and seize every opportunity to wow our guests every time. We actively encourage guests to review us on well-known sites such as Trip Advisor and Booking.com, and we follow up on feedback with an action plan.
Training and Development:
The Lamblion Holiday Apartment boasts of a culture of continuous training, Management has undergone training regionally and internationally in modules related to sustainability management. In so doing, management and Staff continue to gain current information and act on it. Training is of utmost importance to management, so that the Lamblion Holiday Apartment meets legislative and environmental standards, and assists employees to make the best use of their abilities. Thus, they can become more professionally equipped, eventually growing into a holistic attitude, and becoming part of our corporate culture.
- Environmental Protection Awareness: We ensure employees are well aware of their responsibilities to look after the environment and, learn how to use resources efficiently.
- Health and Safety: Employees are trained in Health and Safety policies and Regulations to understand how to protect themselves, co-workers, and guests. This ensures that no one gets hurt and the business is not penalized for failure to adhere to regulations. Comprehensive training regarding COVID-19 will continue as new information about the virus and its spread/control becomes available.
- Quality Management: Training is conducted in Quality Management to ensure the consistent delivery of service that meets the high standards set by the owners. Employees are taught that Guests expect quality service and reward it with loyalty and referrals. When guests know they can expect to receive the same level of service every time they visit, we will have achieved effective quality management.
- Socio-cultural Issues: Training is conducted to turn management and Staff’s attention to Humanitarian assistance as it pertains to the social and ecological aspects of our surroundings and to plan, implement, and evaluate outreach efforts. Training is also conducted to bring awareness to modern-day slavery, exploitation radicalization, trafficking & abuse.
Training is being conducted for new members as part of their induction program; employees receive more training in the respective areas in which they are employed. However, all employees are informed of our efforts on effective energy and water usage, and how to reduce waste.
Health and Safety
At the Lamblion Holiday Apartment, we take the Health and Safety of our employees and guests very seriously. Accident prevention is of vital importance to us as it does not only cause physical and mental pain but is also costly to our business.
While the final responsibility for the safety program lies with the managers, the program cannot succeed without the full cooperation of all staff members. Everyone must be one hundred percent safety conscious in everything he or she does while on the job. We are confident that with a sincere and concentrated effort from everyone, our safety goals can be achieved.
We follow strict environmental, health, and safety laws, regulations, and procedures to conserve and protect the environment and create a workplace where we bring the best out of our colleagues while avoiding the risk of injury. Colleagues are appropriately trained to make them aware of health and safety issues while working. Guests are made aware of danger by appropriate signage and verbal communication.
Our goal is to work safely at all times, think about hazard prevention in all that we do, and minimize accidents so that we, as Staff Members, can feel comfortable and confident at all times and be proud of our commitment to safety. Guests too, will feel safe with a sense of security while on the premises.
